Kevin De Bruyne to Miss Man City Arsenal Clash, Man United, Liverpool at Sixes and Sevens

Manchester City’s ace, who won the PFA Player of the Year award in the 2019-20 season, will not make the first eleven scheduled to face Arsenal due to an injury. Manchester United and Liverpool play big games as they look to rewrite the wrongs of their previous results. Who will come out on top? Here’s your weekly round of football buzz.

Kevin De Bruyne out of Arsenal Clash

The Belgium midfielder was substituted during his match against England during the UEFA Nations League match on Sunday with signs hinting that the 29-year-old had sustained an injury.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed this in a press interview stating that the midfielder will not be available.

“I don’t think it is serious, but the next games I think he will be out. We will see, “ he said.

City are currently 14th in the Premier League table scooping only four points from the first three games while the Gunners are 4th with nine points from their first four matches.

Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus will be out after sustaining an injury in City’s win against Wolves.

Manchester City fans can look on the bright side as their talisman Sergio Aguero is slated to make a return as this was confirmed by Guardiola.

“He’s been training for three or four days, he has been training well. I am happy to see him on the pitch after so long-every team needs a striker,” he said.

Manager Pep will, however, have to make a decision on whether or not to feature the 32-year-old striker.

The previous encounters between teacher and student, manager Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta respectively, has seen Arsenal come out on top knocking Manchester City out of the semi finals of the FA Cup.

Will the past come back to haunt Manchester United and Liverpool?

Since the onset of the new season in September, the football world has been treated to some rather surprising results as the Premier League ‘giants’ have taken a bow in their previous encounters.

Champions Liverpool were thrashed 7-2 at Aston Villa, Manchester United were humbled by a 6-1 defeat against Tottenham, while Guardiola’s own team fell to a 5-2 home loss to Leicester.

Managers have pointed out that due to the Covid-19 pandemic which derailed the football calendar, players have not had time to rest. A shortened pre season as well as back to back matches for clubs was attributed as a main factor leading to the players feeling lethargic.

Though, the show must go on and football fans will enjoy a tantalizing treat as today’s matches feature:
Everton vs Liverpool, Manchester vs Arsenal and Newcastle vs Manchester United.

Everton are currently leading the pack winning all their first four games. Liverpool have a tall task as they look ahead to the Merseyside derby.

Man United will also look to bounce back as they face Newcastle in a clash that could prove to be a do or die situation for Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

There have been rumors that the Chief Executive for Man United, Ed Woodward will use the upcoming clash as a litmus test on whether to axe the incumbent manager.

Man Utd have only garnered three points in their last three games while Newcastle are ninth in the table scooping seven points in their last four games.

Who do you think will have the last laugh in these three clashes?
