Prof Isaac Kibwage, formerly the deputy vice-chancellor in charge of Administration, Planning and Development at Egerton University is now the Acting Vice-Chancellor at the university.
Prof Kibwage takes over the helm of Egerton University after his appointment was pronounced in a memo by the Registrar Thomas Serrem on Friday.
“This is to bring to your attention that the University Council has appointed Prof Isaac Kibwage to act as the Vice-Chancellor with effect from November 20, until further notice. The Vice-Chancellor Prof Mwonya has taken her pending leave,” read the memo.
He replaces Prof Rose Mwonya who has gone on her terminal leave. The professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry will serve on acting capacity after having served as the Principal of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Nairobi.
The outgoing Prof Mwonya was appointed to the position in October 2015 by the then Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi.
She was the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the Njoro-based Campus before succeeding Prof. James Tuitoek who left the institution in 2016.
